9 by women

In 2005, Josune Bereziartu made her last big performance putting 9a/+. World thought she was an alien as she dominated the female lead worldwide including three 9a’s. Since then, we must admit that the women perfs had stalled, despite the fact that the number of female climbers successfully sending 8c's is increasing. But since the "Josune years", only three female climbers had managed to do a 8c+'s (Beth Rodden, Natalija Gros and Maja Vidmar).

Today, this period of "famine" seems gone seing the performances of some ladies in recent months. Judge for yourself :

Exactly 6 months ago, the FrenchCharlotte Durif opened the discussion by announcing the first 9a French women (and therefore the second woman in history to 9a!):P.P.P.La grotte du Galetas in the magnificent Gorges du Verdon : class.

Two months later, the U.S.Sasha Digiulian also meet the challenge successfully sending Pure imagination in the beautiful Red River Gorge :the third 9a lady !!

Just one month ago, the French Alizée Dufraisse put up La Reina Mora 9a's on the legend  cliff of Siurana : and four !!!

Finally, the day before yesterday the Canarian Daila Ojeda flirted with the 9th degree sending  8c +’s Mind control on the elitist cliff in Catalonia : Oliana.

500

( next one and 3 days later, SwissNina Caprez added Mind control to her ticklist). What a nice dynamic with all these women opening the 9 doors.

Roll on the next crux ! And for men... they have to watch out. ;)

Hot news on CA !

Next, it's about the  web site :

- Maps are now in V3 Google API. Searches are easier. To make your searches easier, the world map allow you to make very precise filters and display just what you want. Choose the counrty and/or the climbing style and/or the practice level and/or whished orientation. With such filters, you'll see a clearer map ! :p

carte

- approach lines on the map of a rock climbing area is a new important information because it can save you lots of hours trying to find the crag. Some crags are very lost :)

- a new module to add your rock climbing areas unknown on climbing away : faster, easier, more convenient (Google makes the reverse geocoding).

Now, we keep on validate your rock climbing areas, add your photos and answer your mails :p

Season greetings !

The whole ClimbingAway team wish you a merry christmas and an happy new year !
